Today we learn of the sad death of G Frederick Gibson of Billingborough who died today serving his country in training with the 3rd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment in Grimsby.

Our condolences go to his parents Thomas and Sarah Gibson of Vine Street and he will be remembered by all in the village, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Today we learn of the sad death of Ernest Carr of Witham-on-the-Hill who died today serving his country with the 307th Company Army Service Corps, Motor Transport .

He will be missed by all in the village, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Langtoft

Today we learn of the sad death of Pte. George Porter of Langtoft who died today serving his country with the 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottsv and Derbys), wounded at the front and today died of wounds in Etaples.

He will be missed by all in the village, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Today we learn of the sad death of Battery Sergeant William Edward Gay of Langtoft who died today serving his country with the 6th Siege Battery, Royal Garrison Artillery. William had been in the Army for quite a number of years. Our condolences to his wife Lilly, his parents and his brother Henry who is also in the Army.

He will be missed by all in the village, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Today we learn of the sad deaths of two of our young men of Bourne James Burt and Edward James Backlog both serving with the 1st Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment in the Ypres sector of our lines in Belgium. Our condolences to their families.

Today we learn of the sad death of Amos Stubley of Baston who died today after being discharged only 4 days ago from serving his country with the 3rd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. Our sympathies are with his Grandparents James and Betsy Stubley.

He will be missed by all in the village, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Today we learn of the sad death of Ellis Parker of Bourne who died today serving his country with the 1st battalion Lincolnshire Regiment in Belgium. Ellis, born in Grimsby, was resident in Thurlby before enlisting.

He will be missed by all his friends and family, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Today we learn of the sad death of George Plowright of Morton who died today serving his country with the 5th battalion, King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.

He will be missed by all in the village, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Bourne

Today we learn of the sad death of Ernest Codling of Bourne who died today serving his country with the 1st 4th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. Ernest had joined the territorial force early in 1913 and was called up when war was declared. Our sympathies have been sent to Mr and Mrs John Codling of 3 Woodview Bourne for the sad loss of their son.

Today we also had news of the sad death of Abel seamen Cecil Armstrong Hornsey of Bourne. Cecil was serving with the Royal Navy on  board H.M.S. Brisk when he was accidentally knocked overboard by the recoil of No 4 gun.

They will be missed by all, their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Today we learn of the sad death of Harry Briggs of Thurlby who died today serving his country with the 2nd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, formerly of the Essex Regiment serving in the South African War and India.

He will be missed by all in the village, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Baston

Today we learn of the sad death of Corporal Archer Cooke of Baston who died today serving his country with the 2nd battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. Our sympathy goes to his father Alfred and his family and Friends in the village.

Bourne

Today we learn of the sad death of Arthur Edwin Clark of Bourne who died today serving his country with the 2nd Battalion East Surrey Regiment in Belgium.

His sacrifice will not be forgotten.
