Bourne

Today we learn of the sad death of Lance Sergeant Harry Knowles of Bourne who died today serving his country with the 2nd Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment since 1909. Harry died in a hospital in France following a gun shot wound to the chest, this was a great shock to them after only having received a letter from him the day before, written on Easter Day, saying that he should be home in England in a fortnight. Our sympathies have been sent to William and Jane Knowles of Morton for their loss especially as they had previously lost another son, Tom, to the war last September.

He will be missed by all in the town, his sacrifice will not be forgotten.
